GREENWICH KENT COUNTY CHAMPS 2009 NATIONAL QT for NICOLA What a way to finish the Individual Swimming Championships at the 2009 with Nicola gaining her NATIONAL QUALIFYING TIME in the 50 free. The Saturday morning session started with Tilly Evans making her 5th Medal of the 2009 Championships coming 2nd in the 200 Breast stroke in an impressive time of 3.36.69 which is next years qualifying time and a regional QT for the 10year olds. Chris Buchanan then made the 50 backstroke final in 29.97 and then improved his time in the final coming 6th but improving his heat time by half a second to go 29.43 and he also came 3rd in the 17/18 age group. Luka Seddon swam in the 13 years 100 fly and with a great swim to the 75m mark but collapsed on the last leg to record 1.22.32 The Afternoon promised to be as fruitful with both Nicola and Mark Preston swimming the 50 and the 100 Freestyle respectively, Mark was first on the block and recorded a 57.86 to come 10th in his age group not quite as impressive as the previous weeks 50 fly where he gained a club record and a personnel best time. But then it was Nicola Buchanan who stormed off from the gun and was up the first 25 of the pool in 13.1 to the feet and although her break out from both the start and turn were not perfect she made her NATIONAL QUALIFYING TIME in the heats to record 27.57 her final was the closest of all the championships coming 4th overall just 4 tenths of a second from 2nd to 5th. A great Saturday’s swimming and a great conclusion to the Individual champs the results are as follows Nicola gained medals in all her events and were all regional QT’s
Tilly Evans also gained a medal in all her swims George Evans Chris Buchanan Mark Preston Luka Seddon Dave Wilmott – Greenwich Swim Coach
